About Brift H's Artwork

The top banner, which is updated monthly with a different design, is an important element of Brift H's worldview. The artwork, created by illustrator and designer Shoji Shimizu and photographer Katsumi Sugisaki, is also reflected in the product labels and catalogs. We will introduce the secret story behind the creation of each month along with the archives.

Not only the monthly top banner, but also the label design for Brift H's original products, product catalogs, posters, and logos for all stores, we trust him with our artwork in general with absolute confidence. He is a designer who can be called our partner, who brilliantly interprets and gives shape to what our CEO, Mr. Hasegawa, abstractly talks about, the direction, the current mood, and what we want to express as Brift H. He is also the designer of all the visuals.

You may know him from SOTOKEN magazine GO OUT, but he is a master photographer with a streetwise sensibility and a knack for capturing things. He is a craftsman in his own right, taking photos until he is satisfied with the results.

Shimizu and Sugisaki, who are such a pleasant team, have been creating the Brift H monthly banner since last December. This time, we would like to introduce what theme they have been working on for the banner.

December is the month of Christmas and Santa Claus. The green suede shoes along with Brift H's popular gift box, the SHOESHINE GIFT BOX, give the banner a more Christmassy feel.

With the words HAPPY NEW YEAR, we want you to start the New Year with a clean slate, so we have lined up a series of cleaners. Mr. Brift, polishing his boots with a mop, is in a hectic atmosphere at the beginning of the New Year...

February is the Valentine season. The chocolate-colored suede boots and the pink background create a sweet atmosphere. The popular "Edoya Brush" series are lined up, and Mr. Brift is waiting for "that someone" to shine his shoes with a bouquet of flowers.

Cherry blossoms bloom in March. With the message, "You are reborn with the cherry blossoms every spring," we encourage people to prepare for the coming new year. The cloudy sky, the spring breeze, and the falling petals of the cherry blossoms are all making Mr. Brift twilight.

In April, the month that ushers in a new year and a new life, his stoic black plain-toe shoes shine with a sheen that says he is ready to go. Put on a tie. The tip of the sword is facing the same direction as the tip of the shoe in this powerful photo. Mr. Brift is also doing a perfect shoe shine piece.

May is the time of year when people start to feel a little tired. It is during this time of year that we recommend wax with the intention of getting you fired up for LET'S HIGH SHINE! The shine of cordovan shoes, which are fun to polish to a mirror finish, makes the pleasant season of May even more exciting.

June is a hard season for shoe lovers. THE SPRAY is displayed three-dimensionally on a hydrangea-colored background. The message "Come on! Rainy Season!" symbolizes its strong waterproof power. The message is intended to encourage customers to wear leather shoes with peace of mind during the rainy season.

An eye-opening blue color. I imagined the color of the sky during summer vacation when I was a child. Since it is the season when mold tends to grow, I picked up "happy yellow turmeric cloth" which has antibacterial and insect repellent functions. The "Blift" is unique in that it can be laid out like a beach mat.

Why a marathon in August? Many people may wonder why a marathon in August, but since several Brift H members are participating in the Hokkaido Marathon to be held in August, we picked up a pair of sneakers. Sneaker erasers and THE ANTIBACTERIAL SPRAY were displayed to sanitize in the middle of summer. The "Get Over Yourself!" was a bit of a hot message in the hot weather...

September is the month that leather shoes are getting hotter and hotter after the midsummer. We displayed leather sole oil with the message "We love leather shoes" to encourage people to wear shoes with leather soles. It was a little thrilling to see Mr. Brift, who was polishing shoes at the counter, about to apply sole oil to the uppers.

Our company was founded in 2004, starting on the street. BOOT BLACK, which is also the name of our company, refers to the shoe polishers on the street. Shoe polishers on the street have become rare in Japan, but it is still a basic style in the world. The slightly dark background also reminds us of the good old days.

The November banner is beautiful in shocking pink and jodhpurs. Mr. Brift is also looking stylish in a three-piece suit. With the message "BRUSH UP YOUR STYLE!", the banner is a drop-kick in the casual modern world.

Each month, we created a banner with various thoughts and messages. Because the world of leather shoes tends to be a bit stiff, they were made with POP and illustrations mixed in.
