Yuya Hasegawa's ardent shoeshine dojo Part III
This is the "Yuya Hasegawa's Ardent Shoeshine Dojo" series. In the third installment, Yuya Hasegawa talks about the "entire process" of shoe polishing. Yuya Hasegawa will talk about it passionately.
Hello everyone! Today, when you walk outside, you can smell the fragrance of fragrant rhinoceros trees and feel the autumn season in the air. Oshinushi! In this month's Ardent Shoeshine Dojo, I would like to talk about the entire shoeshine process before going into the details of the shoeshine process. Shoeshine consists of 3 major processes and 16 detailed processes. We will discuss all of them in detail in this Dojo, but let's start with a general flow in mind and then break it down into smaller steps.
1、Dirt removal (cleaner)
2、Nourishment (cream)
3、Polishing (wax)
I often say that shoe polish is just like women's makeup. The main difference is that leather is already living skin.
The main difference is that leather no longer metabolizes like living skin, so it will crack if not nourished regularly. The environment in which the leather has spent its life, such as mold and stains, will leave marks on it. If the leather is not kept clean at all times, the dirt will have various negative effects on the leather, so we start by removing the dirt.
The leather is drying and hardening little by little every day. It is important to nourish the leather to suppress this process and keep it moist and flexible as it was when it was alive. The key to long-lasting wear is how well this is done.
The final step is to add shine, or "make-up" as in the case of makeup. Not only does it give the shoes a shine, but it also makes them stain resistant as a film of wax is applied to the leather surface to repel water. It also acts as a protective film, so when the shoes are bumped, the wax film is first peeled off, making it harder for the shoes themselves to get scratched.
I can't tell you how many shoe lovers have been saved by this 。。。。 The most important thing is that the shoes shine beautifully and look their most attractive. This is the true essence of shoe polishing and the greatest pleasure. We will be dividing these three major processes into 16 steps, so please look forward to the next 16 steps! I'm looking forward to the fourth one!
