【Brift H Product Bulletin】Bespoke Shirt Maker "PEGNO D'AMORE × Brift H" Exclusive Trunks Released
Just as we take pride in the shoes we wear, we should also care about what we put on our bodies. Brift H is proud to introduce its first-ever collection of trunks, launching on Saturday, October 24. They will be available for purchase on the official Brift H online store.
Moving beyond shoe care, we are introducing a completely new product under the theme of “refining the gentleman.” The inspiration came from a pair of trunks I encountered at a fitting event for PEGNO D’AMORE, a brand run by Japanese shirtmaker Tomoko Hirata, where I regularly order my shirts. I discovered that they make underwear as well as shirts—a revelation that sparked this new creation.

After graduating from university, she worked in design, patternmaking, and sewing at an advertising and stage costume company, and later gained experience in children’s clothing production management. After studying in the United Kingdom, she moved to Naples in 2016 and began apprenticing in bespoke shirtmaking in 2017 at Luca Avitare, one of Naples’ leading shirtmakers, located in the Galleria Umberto. In 2022, she launched her own brand, PEGNO D’AMORE. True to its name, which means “a sign of love” in Italian, she pours love into every piece she makes. She is a Japanese female shirtmaker who trained at an Italian shirtmaker before striking out on her own.
At Ms. Hirata’s atelier, trunks made from the same fabric as her shirts are also a popular item. The original design was based on a pair brought in by a customer to the Naples workshop.
Unlike conventional trunks, they feature a three-dimensional design that follows the contours of the body with curved seams rather than straight cuts. They offer a natural, relaxed fit that gently follows the body without feeling restrictive or tight. Their lightweight, airy feel is another appealing feature.
Even I, who have worn boxer briefs for many years, have come to appreciate the comfort of a relaxed fit that does not constrict the body as I get older. This inspired me to create trunks made from high-quality fabric that adults can wear comfortably. This is how Brift H’s trunks were born.
Because they are underwear, the beauty of the fabric matters. This time, we chose twill.
It has a pleasant body and a subtle yet beautiful luster. The dark navy, in particular, has an elegant appearance that transcends the conventional boundaries of underwear. With these, even spending time at home alone in just one layer can feel a little more special.
Of course, it is not just about the beauty of the fabric. The leg openings are neatly tapered so they do not bunch up when worn with dress pants. Drawing on expertise from shirtmaking, we used thick mother-of-pearl buttons. We also carefully designed the fly so that the buttons are not conspicuous from the outside.
And there is a little playful detail. The trunks are actually designed so they can be removed without unbuttoning them.
The beauty of craftsmanship is also evident in the fine stitching throughout. Even the parts that are not easily seen are made with care. This reflects the belief that “God is in the details.”
They are available in three colors: white, sax blue, and dark navy. We offer sizes S, M, and L. Clean white, refreshing sax blue, and sophisticated dark navy—each has its own appeal, and choosing a color is part of the fun.
It is not about whether others see them, but whether you can feel comfortable and at ease. Because they come into direct contact with your skin, we want to pay particular attention to the materials and craftsmanship. This is Brift H’s new proposal.
A special day to have a pair made just for you
To celebrate the launch, we will invite Ms. Hirata to host a one-day fitting event on Saturday, October 31.
Choose your favorite fabric from renowned makers such as Swiss ALUMO and Italian LORO PIANA, and have your own pair of trunks made. It is a luxurious experience of having underwear tailored for you, quite different from choosing a ready-made item.
On the day, Ms. Hirata’s ready-made shirts will also be available for purchase. Quantities are limited. If you are interested, please book your reservation early.
